Owen Reid
I would like to take a moment of your time and tell you a little bit about my background. I was born in Nevada and raised on a small farm in Utah. I moved to Las Vegas when I was eighteen years old to start my career as an electrician. The following five years I attended a program through CSN and received my certificate in Electrical Theory and Applications, which led me to acquire my Clark County Electrical Journeyman card. I joined the IBEW electrical union and worked on and completed several large casino projects on the Las Vegas Blvd. Early 2010 the economy crashed, I had the opportunity to work overseas in Afghanistan on a base called, Leatherneck. I accepted a position as the Electrical inspector and was quickly promoted to the Base Operations and Maintenance Manager. Under this new role I oversaw the maintenance of the base, which included the carpentry, electrical, power generation, plumbing, welding, and burn pit operations. Camp leatherneck was a large Marine base. My staff consisted of just over 1800 employees that ran the operations. I returned from Afghanistan in late 2012 and decided to change my career path from construction to maintenance.
I joined Local gate company in August 2012, which was one of the smaller gate companies in the city of Las Vegas at the time. I was their only main sole technician. I used my education in electrical theory, construction background and management experience from overseas to help create maintenance programs, troubleshooting guidelines, and customer relations. As our clientele grew, we eventually hired more technicians. As a team we were able to grow into the largest gate automation company in the valley. During my employment, I continued my education in electrical and obtained my Clark County Master electrical card, but I continued to finally pass the Nevada electrical contractor exam three years ago.
I turned in my resignation on 10/11/2021, I will miss my coworkers, but most of all the managers and board members I was able to work with to create solutions for their communities. I will always respect where I came from and the struggles that made me the man I am today. I resigned so I could start a company I could call my own, I would like to introduce you to Battle Born Access Systems LLC. So, if you're looking for a new vendor, second bid, or just a phone a friend, let us know and we would be happy to chat.
